§ 60. Mr. HOGGEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to protests regarding the terms on which men from South Africa are being enlisted and trained; and whether he is satisfied that the best use is being made of those men?
§ Mr. TENNANTThe men in question would have been enlisted in South Africa, and any protests regarding the terms on which they have been enlisted would not be a matter for the War Office, to deal with. As a matter of fact, I am unaware of any protest on either of the two points mentioned by my hon. Friend. The men are being trained at Borden under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief at Aldershot, and I am satisfied that their training is being properly conducted.
