HC Deb 04 May 1916 vol 82 c125
48. Colonel C. LOWTHER

asked the Prime Minister, in view of the artificial inflation of the prices of the people's foodstuffs, whether the Government will take over the control of wheat, milk, and meat?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I would refer the hon. and gallant Gentleman to my reply to a question asked by the right hon. Gentleman the Member for the Blackfriars Division of Glasgow on 13th April last, of which I am sending him a copy. As he is doubtless aware, the price of wheat has recently shown a marked downward tendency.
