§ 38. Mr. LEWIS HASLAMasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of complaints made by commanding officers and Army medical officers to the effect that large numbers of men useless for service are retained in the combatant forces for weeks and sometimes for months after such complaints have been reported to the War Office; and whether, in view of the expense to the State in keeping these men in the service and of the shortage of labour, he will take means to accelerate the discharge of such men from the service?
