The VICE-CHAMBERLAIN of HIS MAJESTY'S HOUSEHOLD (Mr. Beck)

reported His Majesty's Answer to the Address as followeth:

I have received your Address praying that I will give directions that a monument be erected at the public expense to the memory of the late Field-Marshal Earl Kitchener, with an inscription expressing the admiration of the House of Commons for his illustrious military career and its gratitude for his devoted services to the State and assuring Me that you will make good the expenses attending the same.

I will gladly give directions for carrying into effect your proposal to do honour to the memory of a most distinguished servant of the State who has achieved so much for Iris Country in this great crisis of its history.
