HC Deb 01 June 1916 vol 82 cc2914-5
3. Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will state what conditions were attached to the proposal made to the German Government to reduce the limit of age for the exchange of interned civilians from fifty-five to fifty, and the age of those unfit for field service to forty-five; and if any reply has yet been received from the German Government?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The condition attached to our proposal is that there are no military reasons for the detention of any individual. No reply has yet been received from the German Government, who were reminded of our proposal through the United States Ambassador on the 15th May.
