HC Deb 01 June 1916 vol 82 c2888
34. Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether the Lanarkshire Middle Ward Committee submitted to him a scheme for the employment of disabled soldiers about a year ago; whether any action has been taken with regard to it; and whether, when the chairman and clerk of the committee desired to make representations to the Committee on the Employment of Disabled Soldiers with regard to this matter, they were refused a hearing on the ground that the Committee appointed to deal with this question applied only to England and Wales?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

I saw representatives of the Middle Ward yesterday. They informed me that they are preparing a detailed scheme, and will shortly lay it before me, when it will receive my best consideration. The Memorandum, which I received in July last year, did not amount to more than an intimation that the District Committee was considering such a scheme and would lay it before Government Departments. As to the last part of the question, I have no information, but I accept my hon. Friend's statement.
