HC Deb 31 July 1916 vol 84 c2057
55. Mr. O'SHAUGHNESSY

asked the Prime Minister whether he will grant the return standing in the name of the hon. Member for West Limerick in connection with the rebellion in Ireland?

The PRIME MINISTER

After careful consideration, and for reasons which I will state later on, the Government have come to the conclusion that it is not desirable to grant the return asked for in the question or that standing in the name of the hon. Member for Bury St. Edmunds.

Mr. LYNCH

Why not have full inquiry that would throw a flood of light on this subject so that the whole country might judge, or proclaim a general amnesty closing the whole affair?
