HC Deb 20 July 1916 vol 84 cc1174-5
38. Mr. PETO

asked the President of the Board of Trade when legislation may be expected to give effect to the intention of the Government to deal with the question of the keeping alive of British patents applied for during the War?

Mr. HARCOURT

The whole question as to the nature of the Amendments which may be desirable in the Patents and Designs Act is now undergoing examination. Amongst the matters which are being examined is the position of patents which, owing to circumstances arising out of the War, the patentee has been unable to develop.

Mr. PETO

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us any hope that this matter will be dealt with at an early date?

Mr. HARCOURT

Yes, I can.
