HC Deb 20 July 1916 vol 84 cc1197-8
23. Mr. BOLAND

asked the Home Secretary whether he is now in a position to state the result of his inquiries as to the action of the Intermediate Education Board for Ireland in introducing a new system of written examination in experimental science; can he state when the Board came to this decision; and what steps, if any, were taken to secure the assent of the Department to the proposed change?

Mr. SAMUEL

The change referred to was adopted unanimously at a meeting of the Intermediate Education Board on 9th December last, the representative of the Department of Agriculture being present. Since the hon. Member's question of the 11th instant I have not had an opportunity of consulting the Board, whose next meeting does not take place until the 4th August. The Board do not record their reasons in the Minutes.
