HC Deb 18 July 1916 vol 84 c829
27. Sir GEORGE TOULMIN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the anxiety in Lancashire as to the supply of raw cotton; whether he will consider immediate steps further to encourage the growth of improved qualities of cotton within our own Colonies; and further assist organisations engaged in this work of national importance?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Bonar Law)

Yes, Sir, I am aware of the views which have been expressed on this subject, and I shall be glad to give careful consideration to any proposals that may be put before me for the further development of the cotton growing industry in the Colonies.
