HARVEYasked the President of the Board of Education whether his attention has been called to the action of the authorities of Bristol University in dispensing with the services of the lady who is head of the teachers' training department of the university, as a measure of war economy; and whether he is taking any action in the matter?
Mr. HENDERSONMy attention has not been called to the matter. I presume my hon. Friend refers not to the elementary school teachers' training department but to the small secondary teachers' training department of the university. I understand that the work of the secondary department is being suspended; but as this department is not recognised under the Board's Regulations there are no grounds on which I could take any action in the matter.
