Mr. HAYDN JONESasked the Prime Minister whether any steps have been taken to inquire into and report upon the water power of Wales, with a view to its utilisation for the production of electrical energy for agriculture and other industries; and, if not, in view of the importance of increasing the productive capacity of the country, whether he will cause the matter to be investigated?
Mr. HARCOURTThe Prime Minister has asked me to reply to this question. I understand that a power and traction company possessing statutory powers for the supply of electricity obtains energy by utilising water power in North Wales, but I am not aware of any general inquiry into the matter.
