HC Deb 05 July 1916 vol 83 c1519
38. Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, having regard to the withdrawal of the prohibition under martial law of football and hurling matches in Ireland, the Commissioners of Inland Revenue have arrived at a decision as to whether, under the Finance (New Duties) Act, the entertainments of the Gaelic Athletic Association will be exempt from Entertainments Duty?

Mr. McKENNA

I am informed by the Board of Customs and Excise that an application from a branch of the Gaelic League for exemption of their entertainments has been received, and that the Board have decided that on the evidence before them there is no title to exemption.
