§ 18. Mr. W. THORNEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether return railway tickets at a cost of single fare and a quarter were issued to visitors to the Royal Agricultural Show at Manchester; and whether he can see his way clear to have the same facilities extended to the working classes of the country during the August Bank Holiday?
§ The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Harcourt)My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The issue of cheap railway tickets to visitors to the Royal Agricultural Show was an arrangement made exceptionally in view of the importance of the Show to the agricultural interests of the country. As regards the latter part of the question, I am afraid I can only refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on the 27th June to the hon. Member for West Wolverhampton, of which I am sending him a copy.
