HC Deb 12 January 1916 vol 77 cc1599-600
51. Mr. G. TERRELL

asked when the two cables, dated the 10th and 17th May, referred to in Sir Ian Hamilton's Report first came to his knowledge; the date the Government decided to give him the reinforcements asked for; and the date when the reinforcements were dispatched to Gallipoli?

Mr. TENNANT

I regret that I am not able to give this information.

Mr. G. TERRELL

My question was when the cables first came to his knowledge?

Mr. TENNANT

I mean the dates, and I am not able to give them.

62. Sir E. CORNWALL

asked the Prime Minister whether, in addition to the dispatch of General Sir Ian Hamilton dealing with certain aspects of the Gallipoli operations, the Government will publish further dispatches dealing with and reviewing the other aspects of the campaign up to the time of the withdrawal; and whether these will embrace the work of the Navy as well as of the Army?

The PRIME MINISTER

The publication of dispatches covering the period up to the date of final withdrawal from the peninsula will be considered in due course, when such dispatches have been received.

Mr. MALCOLM

May I ask if in future dispatches like that of Sir Ian Hamilton will be circulated as a White Paper?

The PRIME MINISTER

I will consider that.
