HC Deb 12 January 1916 vol 77 cc1605-6
70. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether, in view of the diminution of their duties and the need for economy, the higher officials of the Department have voluntarily relinquished such portions of their salaries as, when added together and given to the Irish training colleges, will recoup those colleges for the economic loss recently imposed upon them and enable them to continue their work; and whether arrangements have been made for giving effect to those wishes of the officials?

Mr. T. W. RUSSELL (Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture,) Ireland

The answer to both portions of the question is in the negative. There has been no diminution of the duties of the higher officials of the Department since the outbreak of war, but the reverse.
