HC Deb 11 January 1916 vol 77 c1435
20. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the desirability of introducing legislation to protect the holders of industrial insurance policies who fall into arrears with the payment of premiums in consequence of circumstances with the War?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Frederick Smith)

The matter was considered and dealt with in the Courts (Emergency Powers) Act, and no further legislation is contemplated.

Mr. BYRNE

Has the Attorney-General seen a circular issued by one of the leading companies which is a contravention of the Courts (Emergency Powers) Act?

Sir F. SMITH

If my hon. Friend will show me the circular I shall be glad to read it.
