HC Deb 11 January 1916 vol 77 c1426
11. Mr. SAMUEL ROBERTS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether, with a view of facilitating and expediting the training of the new recruits under the Derby scheme, he will accept the offer of efficient volunteer training corps to give instruction in drill to attested men previous to and in anticipation of their being called up under their group; and whether, if such course be adopted, some small gratuity could be given to men receiving a certificate of good progress from the corps commandant?

Mr. TENNANT

I will refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply I gave on the 18th November to the hon. Member for Glasgow and Aberdeen Universities. I do not think it would be possible to make any payment on the lines suggested in the last part of the question.
