HC Deb 10 January 1916 vol 77 cc1276-7
54. Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Prime Minister if, before deciding not to apply the Military Service Bill to Ireland, the Government had before them a Report from the Lord Lieutenant as chief recruiting officer for Ireland upon the results of his recent recruiting campaign; and, if so, will he lay the Report upon the Table of the House?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Government, when considering the terms of the Bill in question, were acquainted with the monthly returns of recruiting in Ireland, but no formal report by the Lord Lieutenant was before them. Such a Report is now being prepared by His Excellency, and the figures it contains will be communicated to the House.
