HC Deb 10 January 1916 vol 77 cc1258-9
1. Sir JOHN LONSDALE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any further information as to the quantity of flax seed available for import to the United Kingdom from Russia, and when consignments are likely to be received?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Lord Robert Cecil)

I shall be happy to give the information privately to my hon. Friend or to any other Member who asks for it.

Sir J. LONSDALE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that an adequate supply of Russian flax seed is of the greatest importance to Irish flax growers, and will he take all requisite steps to expedite its delivery?

Lord R. CECIL

His Majesty's Government are very well aware of that, and they are doing their utmost, but I am sure the hon. Member will recognise the great difficulties there are.
