HC Deb 06 January 1916 vol 77 c1106
66. Mr. WATT

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any arrangement has yet been made to enable the public in subscribing to the next War Loan, if there be such, to subscribe for registered stock with transfer by deed, in view of the fact that smaller investors in this country have a dislike to inscribed stock and to bonds to bearer, and that such dislike militates seriously against the success of the loans?

Mr. McKENNA

I am afraid I cannot say what arrangements may be made as regards a future War Loan. I may, however, add that it has been arranged that subscribers to the present issue of 5 per Cent. Exchequer Bonds may have their holdings registered from the outset as transferable by deed.
