HC Deb 06 January 1916 vol 77 c1102
79. Mr. BIGLAND

asked how many companies of Territorial Royal Engineers of the first line who were called up on general mobilisation in August, 1914, are still on home service; and whether some of these units will have the opportunity of foreign service?

Mr. TENNANT

I understand that of the first line field companies none are at home. The fortress companies, however, which exist for work in coast defences and for which purpose they are still required, are employed on this work and are at home.
