§ 67. Mr. CURRIEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to a report issued by the town council of Edinburgh in which the wisdom of continuing the present scheme for the sanatorium treatment of phthisis patients is called in question on the ground that the current expenditure in the city of £19,000 a year on sanatorium treatment is not calculated to attain its object, and is therefore described as futile and simply wasted; wheher a copy of this report has been communicated to the Retrenchment Committee and to the National Health Insurance Commissioners; and, if so, whether these bodies have expressed any opinion upon its contents?
§ Mr. McKENNAI have received from my hon. Friend a copy of this report. The subject is receiving the consideration of the Retrenchment Committee. I do not know whether this report has yet been considered by the Scottish Insurance Commission; perhaps my hon. Friend will address this part of his question to the Comptroller of the Household.
