HC Deb 22 February 1916 vol 80 cc558-9
7. Mr. MURRAY MACDONALD

asked the Secretary for Foreign Affairs whether duties are imposed on exports of some classes of ore from the Straits Settlements; and, if so, whether he will give a schedule of the duties?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Steel-Maitland)

No Export Duties on the exportation of ore from the Straits Settlements are imposed. Perhaps the hon. Gentleman has in mind the royalties on tin and tin ore and other ores imposed in the Federated Malay States. These royalties are at differing rates and cannot be summarised briefly, but the rates will be found in the Manual of Statistics relating to the Federated Malay States, a copy of which I will place in the Library of the House.
