HC Deb 22 February 1916 vol 80 c577
30. Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Comptroller of the Household, as representing the National Health Insurance Commissioners, if he is aware that it has been decided that the continuance of district insurance committees in the county of Lancashire is undesirable; and if he will state whether this decision applies to all district insurance committees in Great Britain and Ireland?

The COMPTROLLER of the HOUSEHOLD (Mr. Roberts)

The activities of district insurance committees have in many areas been suspended in the interests of economy. The action taken, which is without prejudice to the future, has the strong support of the insurance committee for the county referred to in the question.

Mr. WILSON

Is the intention to suspend the whole insurance itself, or, if not, why is there differentiation between county and county?

Mr. ROBERTS

Some regard must be had to the circumstances of each area.
