HC Deb 22 February 1916 vol 80 cc569-70
35. Mr. AGG-GARDNER

asked the Minister of Munitions if, in view of the fact that in only three districts out of sixty in the counties of Berks, Wilts, Somerset, and Gloucester an increase of drunkenness was reported at the last brewster sessions held in these counties, and that the three districts referred to were under the control of the Central Control Board, he will use his influence in the interests of temperance to persuade the Central Control Board to suspend the Order recently announced for placing further portions of these counties under its control?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of MUNITIONS (Dr. Addison)

I see no reason for taking the step suggested in the question. The Orders referred to are based on requests of the military authorities.
