HC Deb 17 February 1916 vol 80 c231
79. Mr. JAMES MASON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether a member of the Territorial Force, who is physically fit but whose five years period of service has expired, is liable to be discharged for the reason only that his time has expired; and whether he is entitled to claim his discharge for the same reason?

Mr. TENNANT

In the circumstances mentioned a member of the Territorial Force is liable to be discharged, and is entitled to claim his discharge.

80. Mr. MASON

asked whether a member of the Territorial Force who is physically unfit for service as a result of active service in the War, and whose time has expired, is liable to be discharged for the reason only that his time has expired, and without sick pay, pension, or gratuity during the period of his incapacity subsequent to the date on which he is discharged?

Mr. TENNANT

I have stated the position as regards liability to discharge, in reply to my hon. Friend's last question. A man who is, at the time of his engagement expiring, physically unfit as the result of active service, will be eligible for pension, temporary or permanent, according to the nature and severity of the disability.
