HC Deb 17 February 1916 vol 80 c222
40. Mr SNOWDEN

asked the Secretary for Scotland if a Russian subject named Peter Petroff, lately resident in Glasgow, has been interned for the period of the War; if so, on what grounds this action has been taken; and will he have the case reconsidered, and, if the man has been charged with any offence, have him tried under the Defence of the Realm Act in open Court?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

Petroff, in regard to whose nationality as a Russian I have no definite information, has been interned under the Defence of the Realm Regulations. He was informed that he might make representations against his internment to the Advisory Committee appointed to deal with such cases in Scotland, and his application is now under consideration by that Committee.
