Mr. KEATINGasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he is aware that the head constable of Callan, county Kilkenny, entered a residence and forcibly secured a copy of a poster issued by the Irish National Volunteers Committee; will he state if he did so by authority; and, if so, will he state the source of the authority?
§ Mr. DUKEThe poster in question, which was exposed to public view in a shop, contained matter contravening the Defence of the Realm Regulations. The head constable called the attention of the shopkeeper to it, and, with his consent, removed it.
