HC Deb 14 December 1916 vol 88 c824
125. Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he will reconsider the decision to deprive the soldier of his week-end leave in view of the fact that the sacrifice is a very unequal one, in that the soldier has to undergo his training separated from his wife and family and is only able to see them at his week-end leave, which comes to him once in twenty weeks, whereas the general public and munition workers are only called upon to remain at home with their wives and families and to forego the week-end holiday?

Mr. FORSTER

As has already been announced, a modification has been made of the previous decision in regard to Christmas leave, but I am unable to announce a modification in regard to weekend leave.
