HC Deb 14 December 1916 vol 88 cc855-6
18. Sir P. MAGNUS

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether, to prevent, as far as possible, divergence of instructions in the regulations affecting the conduct of secondary schools in Ireland and in order to maintain uniformity in the arrangements for the distribution of Grants in aid of the teaching of science in those schools, he will take steps to secure joint action between the National Board of Intermediate Education and the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction on all matters in which the Department and the Board are jointly interested?

Mr. DUKE

Upon the matter of written examinations in science subjects which is now in question between the Intermediate Education Board and the Department of Agriculture I see no immediate prospect of agreement, and this question is not of such magnitude as to warrant resort to legislation at the present time.
