§ Commander BELLAIRS(by Private Notice) asked the President of the Local Government Board what immediate steps are to be taken in regard to the alarming outbreak of infectious paralysis in New York in order to prevent its spread to this country?
§ Mr. LONGWe are fully acquainted with the facts of the case and with the nature and history of this disease, as far as it is known, and of the steps which are taken in New York. Cases of this disease have occurred here for a long period. The ordinary administrative machinery for the protection of this country is sufficient, and no special steps are, I consider, called for in respect of this disease.
