§ 20. Colonel YATEasked whether it will be possible to release skilled men over military age employed in either the protection or observer companies of the Royal Defence Corps for work in munition factories, so as to release young men of military age now employed there for service at the front?
§ The SECRETARY of STATE FOR WAR (Mr. Lloyd George)The release of men fit for general service by the substitution for them of men not so fit, either as a result of age or of physical disability, is constantly under review, and I am glad to be able to inform my hon. and gallant Friend that in some districts substitutions of this nature have already been arranged on a considerable scale, and the operation of this process is continually increasing. What I have said applies to the Royal Defence Corps, as well as to other formations.
