§ 31. Sir G. TOULMINasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that Private Rimmer, No. 13,732, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, was for many months in hospital after being gassed, that he was discharged in a dying condition from Timber-hurst Hospital, Bury, on 28th January and died on 5th February, and that he was granted a pension of eightpence a day after his death; whether he is aware that the Central Army Pensions Issue Office was communicated with at once, also on 21st March, 8th April, 14th April, 31st May, 6th June, and 3rd July; will he say whether the widow is now, six months after Rimmer's death, receiving any pension; if not, what further steps should the Clerk to the War Pensions Committee take to bring the case to a decision; and will he state whether the fact that deceased was discharged before his death has been the cause of the delay?
§ Mr. FORSTERI fear that there has been some lack of co-ordination in this somewhat unusual case. It has led to a delay which I greatly regret. Pension has been authorised for Mrs. Rimmer, and will be paid as soon as possible. I am making some further inquiries into the circumstances.
