§ 82. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKSasked the Secretary of State for War whether lieutenants in the Royal Army Medical Corps have been given three years' acceleration of promotion after six months' service, but captains of ten years' service have so far been given no acceleration; and whether, having regard to the work done by the Royal Army Medical Corps captains at the front, he will consider the possibility of acceleration of promotion in regard at least to some of them?
§ Mr. FORSTERMy hon. Friend is misinformed in thinking that no captains of the Royal Army Medical Corps have received accelerated promotion. As a matter of fact 148 captains have received such promotion, and each of them had between ten and twelve years' service. The 677 acceleration of promotion given to lieutenants does not in fact amount to as much as three years. I am informed that in the majority of cases it has amounted to less than twelve months.
