§ 13. Mr. BOYTONasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is prepared to advise His Majesty's Government to withhold consent, at least during the period of the War, to applications from persons of obviously alien origin for changing their names?
Mr. SAMUELIt has been frequently explained, in answer to questions on this subject, that while alien enemies are prohibited from changing their names under the Aliens Restriction Order, the law imposes no restrictions with regard to changes of name by other persons; and I am not satisfied that a case has been made out for any alteration of the law in this respect.
§ Mr. BOYTONIs it proposed to alter the law?
