HC Deb 02 August 1916 vol 85 cc304-5
49 and 50. Major NEWMAN

asked the Prime Minister (1) whether the Government contemplate a redistribution of seats in order to give effect to their proposal that after the next General Election the representation of Ireland shall be reduced; if not, by what means this reduction will be effected; whether a redistribution of seats affecting any part of the United Kingdom, to take place before the next General Election, is still contemplated by the Government; and (2) whether the devolution to national legislatures within the United Kingdom of legislation and government now centred in the Imperial Houses of Parliament is still a policy contemplated by the Government; and will this subject be one for discussion in any Imperial Conference that may be assembled at a date subsequent to the termination of hostilities?

The PRIME MINISTER
