Mr. HORNERasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what is the approximate amount of the Irish National Health Insurance Fund; and whether any alteration is contemplated, by legislation or otherwise, with the control of the fund by the Irish Insurance Commissioners; and, if so, what is the nature of the proposed change?
§ Mr. C. ROBERTS (Comptroller of the Household)The amount of the fund in the hands of the Irish Insurance Commissioners and of the National Debt Commissioners on the 31st August last was £1,085,550. Legislation would be required for the purposes suggested in the question, and any such proposals would, therefore, have to be submitted to the House.
