HC Deb 22 September 1915 vol 74 cc454-5
33. Major WARING

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether any Members of the House of Commons, in filling up their registration forms, gave their membership of this House as an adequate occupation in war time; and, if so, whether he will impress upon those Members who are under forty-five years of age and have not yet enlisted the desirability of doing so?

Mr. LONG

I cannot answer the hon. and gallant Member's question, as the registration forms are not in my hands.

Mr. KING

Is it not also the case that we were promised on the passing of the Registration Act that the returns should be secret, and would it not be an infringement of that promise if any such answer were given?

Mr. LONG

I think it would.
