30. Resolved, That there shall be charged on any sum, by which the profits or gains arising from any trade, manufacture, concern in the nature of trade, or business (including agencies) in any period of account which includes any time after the commencement of the present War exceed the pre-war standard of profits or gains, a tax of fifty per cent, of that sum.—[The Chancellor of the Exchequer.]
