HC Deb 21 September 1915 vol 74 cc309-10
45. Lieut.-Commander WEDGWOOD

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the ground landlords are pressing for their full ground rents from owners of business premises now embarrassed owing to the War under the threat of resuming possession of land and building as well; and whether he will appoint a Committee to inquire how far this power is being abused in order to get good properties into the hands of the ground landlords and as to how the difficulty should be met?

The PRIME MINISTER

Sufficient evidence to justify an inquiry has not been brought to my knowledge. I shall be glad if my hon. Friend will communicate to me any evidence on the subject that may be at his disposal.
