HC Deb 15 September 1915 vol 74 c41
Mr. O'SHEE

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for War a question of which I have given him private notice: Whether letters and parcels addressed and posted to soldiers in the 10th Division of the Army with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force from ten weeks to two months ago had not reached them at the end of August; what caused this very long delay; and whether these letters and parcels have yet reached their destination?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Tennant)

As regards the particular point raised in the question, the hon. Member will recognise that it is quite impossible for me to say whether particular parcels or letters addressed to a particular unit have been received or not received.

As regards the general question, proposals are under consideration for giving an accelerated service, and no doubt my right hon. Friend the Postmaster-General will make a statement as soon as the arrangements are settled.
