HC Deb 12 October 1915 vol 74 c1165
1. Mr. ANEURIN WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can make any statement with regard to the deportations and massacres of Armenians in Turkey; and whether he has any official information showing that some hundreds of thousands of Armenians, mostly women, children, and elderly men, have recently been done to death in pursuance of a plan of the Turkish Government?

The SECRETARY Of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir E. Grey)

All the information on this subject in the possession of His Majesty's Government was contained in the statement made by the Marquess of Crewe, in reply to a question put by the Earl of Cromer on the 6th of October. I can only refer the hon. Member to that statement. It goes further than is usual in reply to a question in this House, and I therefore do not propose to read it to the House. There can be but one feeling of horror and indignation about what has been done.
