HC Deb 12 October 1915 vol 74 cc1167-8
4. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War how many elected members of public bodies are now prevented by the administration of the Defence of the Realm Act from attending to their statutory duties; and, having regard to the disqualifying provisions of the Local Government Acts and the people's determination to re-elect the same men, what course the military authorities propose to pursue in those cases?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Tennant)

I have no information in regard to the first part of the question, and I do not consider that any action by the military authorities in the matter is called for.

Mr. GINNELL

Has the right hon. Gentleman no information of persons occupying a representative capacity dealt with under the Act?

Mr. TENNANT

No, Sir; I have no information.
