HC Deb 17 May 1915 vol 71 cc1983-4
48. Mr. SANDERSON

asked the Prime Minister whether, having regard to the fact that the claims in respect of certain classes of Parliamentary electors must by law be sent to the overseers by the 25th July, he will introduce at an early date legislation to meet the case of men serving with His Majesty's Navy and Army?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot give any promise in the matter.

Mr. SANDERSON

Does the right hon. Gentleman recognise that, by reason of the fact that many of those who have volunteered for active service are lodgers, unless something is done pretty soon, they are in danger of losing their votes?

The PRIME MINISTER

It is under the consideration of the Local Government Board.

Mr. LOUGH

Will the right hon. Gentleman be able to make a general statement about the registration of Parliamentary voters before we adjourn, having regard to the pressure of time?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot make any promise.
