§ Mr. ACLANDThe number of gallons of spirits imported was 4,819,000 gallons, at rates of duty varying from 15s. 1d. per proof gallon to £1 5s. 1d. per liquid gallon, according to the nature of the spirits. The duty on spirits produced in this country was 14s. 9d. per proof gallon.
