§ 42. Mr. CHAMBERLAINasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he could communicate to the House the result of the inquiry which he promised to make of Lord St. Aldwyn as to the attitude of the Treasury Committee on new issues towards the London County Council new building scheme for schools?
§ Mr. ACLANDLord St. Aldwyn has intimated to my right hon. Friend that the Committee on Fresh Issues did not formally consider the application as they were informed that it had already been sanctioned by the Cabinet. Lord St. Aldwyn added that if the case had been formally considered by the Committee, he felt sure they would have refused to sanction it.
