Mr. LOUGH

I believe that this Amendment is suggested in order to meet a proposal of which some of us had given notice. If we receive an assurance that the object we had in view will be secured by this Amendment withdrawing the Clause, we shall be satisfied. Perhaps we can have a word to that effect before the present Amendment is agreed to.

Mr. DENNISS

I understand that it is agreed that the Clause will be withdrawn from the Bill.

Mr. LOUGH

What will be the effect of that?

Mr. DENNISS

That will be for the lawyers to determine, I think.

The DEPUTY-CHAIRMAN of WAYS and MEANS (Mr. Maclean)

The effect of the withdrawal of the Clause is that the Clause will no longer remain in the Bill.
