Mr. ROBERTSThe fighting to which the hon. Member refers was a tribal engagement between the forces of the Wahabi Amir of Nejd and those of the Shammar Chief, between whom there is a hereditary feud. The former was victorious. Captain Shakespear, who was in company of the Amir of Nejd, was unfortunately killed at the beginning of the action. By his untimely death the public service has lost an able and gallant officer of great promise.
