HC Deb 02 March 1915 vol 70 cc644-5
19. Mr. BOLAND

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the statement in the recent Consular Report from Philadelphia to the effect that steps have been taken to manufacture aniline dyes on a large scale in Pennsylvania; and whether the Government took into account the probable production in allied or neutral countries, of aniline dyes when framing its scale of Grants for research work?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Robertson)

I have seen the statement to which the hon. Member refers, but I have been informed that the company in question intends at present to manufacture only aniline oil and aniline salt. In determining the Grant to the new company for research and experiment, due regard was paid to all relevant circumstances so far as known.
